Instant Messaging, Peer-to-Peer & File Download Management

Bloxx Web Filtering

Instant Messaging & Peer-to-Peer Blocking
Instant messaging and peer to peer blocking is integrated into Bloxx appliances so that you can choose to control the associated productivity drain. Examples of commonly used IM clients that you can block are:

  • AOL IM
  • MSN Instant Messenger
  • Yahoo
  • Google Talk

Examples of frequently used P2P networks that you can choose to block are:

  • Bittorrnet
  • E-Donkey
  • E-Mule
  • Kazaa
  • Limewire
  • Gnutella

You can choose to block or allow all IM and P2P applications or you can customise access to specific types.

File Download Management
Bloxx also includes a file download management feature which can stop potentially dangerous and bandwidth intensive files from being downloaded by group, user or type. Some of the file extensions you can choose to block are:

  • Executable files
  • Audio files
  • Video files
  • Image files
  • Document files
  • Archive files

It is also possible to add your own file extensions to a user-defined list, meaning you can block certain file extensions but not the entire category.
